Twas the night before Halloween...

and all through the Yeamans house, the pumpkins are carved....and this is where my rhyming skills stop. I can't think of how to end this one...fact is, we carved these pumpkins days ago! Sweet boy was begging me daily, "Mama, let's turn these pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns, please!?!" How could I resist??? Well, I couldn't which is why our nasty, rotting, moldy, fly infested jack-o-lanterns have already found their way to the dumpster. {Thanks for the tip Sarah! I'll be waiting until the day before Halloween next year!} Oh well, it was fun while they lasted! ;)

ready to get started

mama's got the top off...taking a peek

not quite sure he really wants to stick his hand in

helping mama dig out the pumpkin "guts"{as we call it!}

the shovel works best for my boy who HATES getting his hands dirty

ta da!

not just one, but TWO spooky jack-o-lanterns!
Clay was so precious telling me, "Tank you, Mama! Let's light our jack-o-lanterns. Look, it's a mama and a baby!" Anything big and small side by side is a mama and a baby or sometimes a daddy and a baby...could be two bugs, two toys, two clouds in the sky! I love his sweet nauture!

We're feeling batty...

Halloween is just two days away and even though we won't be dressing up and partaking in the trick or treating...big guy has flat out refused every costume suggestion imaginable...we've still had lots of spooktacular fun this week!

Back up to the costume for a sec...I didn't have this blog last Halloween, but if I did you would have seen a costume-less Clay last year as well. I had big plans to dress him in the cutest darn monkey costume but he just said, "No Mama!" every time I came near him. This year I thought for sure he'd want to dress up, maybe even choose his own costume?! No way, not a chance! My guy is just not one for dressing up and I'm not pressing the issue. We'll be decked out in our "Go Horns" shirt {as Clay calls it} anyway since we happen to have a pretty superstitious Daddy who insists we wear the same outfit each game day! :) Go Horns beat Ok State!

Just because we're not dressing up, doesn't me we're skipping out on any of the Halloween fun! We've been reading TONS of Halloween books, sprucing up the house with our "fall" decorations, visiting the pumpkin patches, walking the neighborhood looking at the jack-o-lanterns and friendly ghosts, carving some of our own pumpkins {post to come!} perusing through the Halloween aisle at Target, picking up bags of candy for our storm of trick or treaters, doing crafts with mama, and baking Halloween cookies!

Here are some pics of one of our crafts...

we read one of our favorite books, five little bats flying in the night, before we started

i wish you could hear this picture of Clay reading me the book...he's practically got this one memorized!

tracing his little hands for the bat wings

here he is trying to trace his fingers again while mama cuts out the wings

he's saying, "
pointer finger, middle finger, ring finger, pinky!"

finished product! {those red things are fangs!}
More spooktacular posts to come!

O is for Owl...

We're getting in the Halloween spirit over here at The Yeamans! So, it was only fitting that our letter of the week activity be centered around something spooky & scary...well, sort of.

our owl mask materials

i just l.o.v.e. how he's trying to hold his crayon like mama has showed him!

i'd ask clay to show me on him where the different parts of the owl were located, then we'd glue them down. here's his mouth. {beak}

gluing on the beak

where are your feet/toes?

gluing down the owl feet

i LOVE this pic...where's your ear???

gluing down the ears

our spooky & scary halloween owl...sans one foot...oops!

take 2!

this is clay saying, "mama, here's my nose. where is the owl's nose?"
Do owls even have noses???

If I've Gotta Sweat...

let it be while I'm taking pics of my sweet boy in a pumpkin patch! Still desperately patiently waiting for "fall weather" to hit central Texas! This past weekend, while Daddy was in Dallas for the Texas/OU game, Mama and Clay headed south to San Antonio. On our way, we stopped in Boerne to visit Grandpa at school and pick our perfect pumpkin. {try sayin' that three times fast!}

pumpkins as far as the eye could see...where do we begin?!

clay chose this pumpkin because,
"mama, this pumpkin has bumps on it like the bumpy balls at Little Gym!"

one little, two little...{three little pumpkins}

clay checking out the scarecrow's
"itchy straw"

clay & grandpa

mama & her boy...we took a similar pic last year

my what a difference a year makes!?!?

i promise he's lifting with his legs...not his back! :)

telling me,
"mama, it's sooooo heavy!"

"here grandpa, i gotta good one!"

run, clay, run!

hot & sweaty, red cheeked, pumpkin pickin', sticker wearing, sweet smiling boy!

it's official!
After our visit with Grandpa, we headed over to Coach and Mick's house {see post below}. Although Coach was coaching on Friday night {go tough buffs!} and had to work some on Saturday, he did manage to get some good playtime in with Clay!

coach got 'em!

so sweet!
See you all again this weekend! XOXO!

Think Pink...

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. A whole month dedicated to celebrating the many extraordinary women who have so bravely walked or are walking this journey. You may not know of anyone personally, but odds are you know of someone...a friend of a friend, someone at church, a neighbor, a teacher at school...this list could go on and on.

This month {and all other months, really}, we honor these women who are dear to our hearts. We honor them for their incredible and unwavering strength. We honor them for their faith. We honor them for the hope they have in knowing their day of health will soon be restored. We honor them for the examples they set in showing us that life.is.precious and everyday is a gift!

Speaking of gifts...this is a gift Clay {with a little help from the amazingly talented owner of The Ceramic Mug} made for his Mick...

beautiful in a million ways!!

We love you, Mick! Honoring YOU along with the other women in our life who are so very much deserving of the thoughts, prayers, smiles, hugs and kisses this month and always!

GO HORNS!!!

You will be hard pressed to find a cuter Longhorn fan than this one right here...

and here...

Grandpa Ronnie bought Clay this outfit last year for x-mas and it now fits perfectly! And...just in time for the cooler weather! I think Clay really got a kick out of the pockets cause if you check out the pics, he's got his hand in his pocket in both! :)

This weekend is the Red River Shootout and Daddy will be in Dallas cheering on the Longhorns! Clay and Mama are headed to San Antonio today and will meet Daddy back here on Sunday. Have a great weekend....GO HORNS beat OU!!!!!

It's a Sin...

that my sweet boy in his 2 and a half years has never had one of these...

Hard to believe, huh? Coach, I can see the disbelief and disappointment in your face from here! :) Cookies..yes. Cake...yes. Chocolate candy...yes. Brownies...no!
Needless to say, mama had to do something about this! So, the other rainy morning we baked...

mama's little helper

measuring and pouring the ingredients

mixin' {'cause we're from TEXAS!} it all up!

lickin' {again, it's a Texas thing} some of the yummy goodness!

okay, a little more...

then, we wait...
While the brownies were baking, I put Clay down for a nap and when he woke up, I had this waiting for him...

Clay's brownie is a little lopsided because mama took a little nibble my knife was dull...yeah, that's it! ;)

my still sleepy boy checking out the goodness on his plate!

gotta love the expression and nap hair in this picture!

How did Clay like his first taste of brownie you ask...

no explanation necessary!
Clay was so excited to dig into his yummy treat but my heart was smiling when he paused and told me, "Mama, I see the letter I, a heart, and the letter U!" I told him this stands for I love you. He told me, "Tank you, Mama! My chocolate brownie is dewishous! I want another one with cream {icing}."
Ahhh, sweet success!!!!
