Letter of the Week!

We are looney for letters at the Yeamans as Clay begins to work on letter recognition. He recognizes the letters P, Y, and R so I decided to start with these first.
Here is a preview of last week's feature letter....P!

Painting our letter...Purple, of course!

Works better with his hat on! :)

Our finished Product...letting the paint dry.

Gluing on the Pennies!

Lining them up! Look at that neat row...he is my son! ;)

Clay learned the word "squeeze" during this activity!

Making them stick!

So Proud!

And what does one eat during our P week, you ask??? Well how about....

Pancakes with Peaches!

Pomegranate applesauce.

Peanut Butter (straight from the jar apparently!) and Pears.

Pizza!

And what does one do during P week??? Well, a little...

Perusing through Mama's Purse looking for "P" items around the house!

Here are a few items we found...the ones that actually made it into the picture:
Picture frame, Plastic bottle, Pepper, Pony tail holder, Pampers, Plate!

We Practice our Putting...with "dada's cub," an old one, of course!

Daddy's little Pro!

We read Alphabet Books!

Looking forward to our next Letter of the Week!

Thankful Thursday

We are blessed with so many things to be thankful for, butI think it goes without saying that I am so very thankful for my precious family. Everyday my heart is filled with love and joy for my hubby and son. What makes it swell the most is the three of us spending time together doing the "little things"...eating dinner around the table and laughing at Daddy being silly, snuggling in bed before going to sleep, playing "hoops" in the backyard...you know the daily everythings! Which brings me to this...our Saturday outing to the Austin Children's Museum.

WARNING: You are about to view an obscene amount of pictures...too many good ones to choose from! :)

Checking out the fish with Daddy.

Tool time with Mama!

They aren't "dada's toos," but they'll do!

Filling up the makeshift Capital Metro.

Airing up the tires.

I forgot what we were supposed to learn here, but Clay had fun pumping this up and down!

Learning how to conserve electricity!

If it has a button, Clay's gonna push it!

His FAVORITE part was watching the train circle the museum overhead!

Pushing another button...to make the train crossing sign go up and down, up and down!

Clay would pull this lever and the train whistle would blow. I wish you could hear his excitement when he would hear it and scream "horn, mama!"

Clay and Daddy learning about centrifugal force...think they just liked watching the penny go around and around! :)

And what did Mama do the instant we left the building.....

You guessed it...sanitized our germy hands with my trusty Wet Ones! Never leave home without 'em! :)

It Isn't Easy Being Green

We've had some unseasonably warm days this February, even with highs reaching near 80's!! (Mandie, I know you are glaring at the computer screen right now...you will be experiencing it all again very soon!) My little man LOVES the outdoors, so needless to say, we soak up some serious sunshine on these days (sunscreen applied, of course!) ;)

Just after waking from his nap (this will explain the sans pants pictures below), Clay and Mama hit the backyard for an awesome outdoor adventure. I got this idea from one of the BEST books out there...The Toddler's Busy Book by Trish Kuffner. I have planned SO many fun activities for the two of us using this as my guide. All you need for this activity is:
  • a spray bottle
  • liquid tempera paint (I used washable finger paint...worked just as well)
  • water
  • old sheet
I have been working with Clay on his colors and I'm proud to report that he's got them all down pat! I gave him the choice of color he wanted to use for paint and he chose green or "geen" as he calls it. It was a tad windy this afternoon, so the sheet ended up on the ground (although it was meant to hang from the fence). Nonetheless, Clay had a GREAT time...even giving Kermit the Frog a run for his money! :)

Clay figuring it out...didn't take him long!

Taking a break to admire his work!

Oops...got it pointed the wrong way!

My "geen" goatee!

Before it was all said and done, nothing was spared from being drizzled with a little green finger paint...even Mama! This is definitely on Clay's top 10 list for favorite outdoor fun!

Mr. Independence

Clay has really started wanting to do things by himself...open water bottles, drink from a "big boy" cup, brush his teeth, put on his shoes and socks...all the little things Mama is not ready to stop helping him with yet! Lately, if I seem to be crowding his space, he will gently push my hand away. So, along with the slight nudge, I've taught Clay the phrase, I do it. Boy, has he got this saying down! Although, his comes out as , "I dood it." Along with "mere, mama," I hear this one just as often these days!

Yesterday, we were stocking up on art supplies at Michael's and if you know Clay, you know that he has never been one for sitting in the shopping cart...ever. He's really never been one to be strapped into anything for that matter...car seat, stroller, high chair. He loves his freedom and independence. As you can imagine, shopping is sort of a challenge for Mama. I've learned a few tricks that will buy me some time, but mostly, I just let him "dood it!" :)

So, the minute he sees the shopping cart at Michael's, he says, "Mama, I dood it!" And, if you know me, then you know that I had this shopping cart (and every other one he touches) sanitized with my trusty Wet Ones from top to bottom!

Here is Clay "dooding" it:

Sorry folks, this was the only picture I could snap. As you can tell, Mama needed both hands to discretely help her big boy steer! Not only did we bump into a few displays, but somehow much more was added to our cart than what was on our list! ;)

"Mere, Mama!"

"Mere" is Clay's word for come here. Pretty clever if I do say so myself! As you can imagine, Daddy and I hear, "mama, mere" or "mere, dada" numerous times a day! It's even sometimes followed with a "peeze" (please) if we don't respond fast enough to his first request!

The other morning I was cleaning up the kitchen when I hear, "mere, mama" coming from our bathroom. I never know what I'm going to find when I hear those sweet words. Rounding the corner to our bathroom, this is what I see....

Then this...

Mama's lipstick!

The guilt is written all over his face...literally!

Never a dull moment at The Yeamans! :)

A Lesson in Cause and Effect

CAUSE: Daddy's HAIR GEL left a little too close to where little fingers lurk!

EFFECT: A hair raising experience!!!

This picture cracks me up!

Happy Friday!

I Scream, You Scream....

We all scream for ice cream!!!

A few weeks ago, Clay and I were playing in the back yard and heard the annoying familiar tune of the ice cream man roaming the neighborhood. Yes, even in the winter (on warmer days) our ever faithful ice cream man is out in search of those that can't resisit the Bomb Pops! Clay heard the muisc and immediately ran to the gate yelling, "I ceam! I ceam!" So, what does any "good" mom do in this situation....you got it...dug in the depths of my purse and found $.50 to support my son's sugar rush! :) Here are a few pics from the day...

Clay...waiting patiently!

Here comes the ice cream man!!

Carefully putting the money in his pocket!
Mama let him choose from the pictures what he wanted....with some discretion!

Digging for his change...

About to enjoy his grape ice pop!
Did ya happen to notice the belly showing in this pic?? Looks like this isn't our first encounter with the ice cream man! ;)

What's everyone bloggin' 'bout??

Okay, so here it is...my feeble attempt at blogging! After many many months of viewing other people's blogs, I thought I would give it a shot. I feel like it's a little late in the game, so to speak, since Clay will be turning TWO in April, but better late than never. Besides, what a great way for family and friends to keep up with the daily happeings around the Yeamans house?! Let's face it, when you've got an almost 2 year old around, life is never dull! Besides, I just love being able to boast talk about my little guy!

Which brings me to this...our very first "conversiation." This dialogue took place a few days ago while we were driving home. It is my first real back and forth coversation with Clay...and it was just too precious!

Clay: As we turn on our street, Clay is pointing from his car seat, "Clay ouse" (house).

Mama: "Are you ready to go to Clay's house?"

Clay: "No."

Mama: "No? You mean you don't want to play with toys?"

Clay: "No. Dada's toos." (tools)

Mama: "You want to play with Daddy's tools?"

Clay: Shaking his head yes, "mammer" (hammer).

Mama: "You want to play with Daddy's hammer?"

Clay: "Biiiiig mammer!"

Mama: "You want to play with the big hammer?"

Clay: "Yes!"

So simple and yet so much talking for my 21 month old!!!

Here's to many more posts!
