They Call Me the Fireman...

Last week, Clay and I went with my our friends Sarah, Benton & Reagan to see the firetrucks at the Manchaca Fire Department. Clay was soooo excited when we pulled up because the firemen were just getting back from "running errands" {as we later found out} and were pulling the "BIG firetruck" back into the bay. Clay couldn't get enough of pointing out all of the features..."Mama, a red firetruck...has wheels...has a ladder...has a hose...has a siren...lights are on!"

I just knew he was gonna love seeing the truck up close...not so much! Not that he was too scared, just a little hesitant to explore it by himself. So, in these pics you will see Mama scaling the truck as well! :)

Benton, Clay & Mama sitting in the truck {See what I mean...Clay never cried, but looks less than thrilled!}

Feeling braver here just exploring the outside..."BIG wheels!"

Couldn't get the little stinker to look at the camera!

Benton in the driver's seat!

Sarah had to snap this quickly because Clay was ready to BOLT!!
Although I think he really did enjoy the seeing the real firetruck up close, I think we'll be sticking to this...

a bit more relaxed in the driver's seat on this one!

Clay LOVED this ride and when it would stop Clay would say, "Mick, more money please!"
And, what do you think Mick did....

supplied more quarters, of course!

Priceless!

Warning: So Many Pics...Your Computer May Freeze!

Over Father's Day weekend, one of our stops was celebrating over at my Nana and Pa's house. I am SUPER amazed that Clay can keep everyone straight...but somehow he does!! He knows by name his Coach and Mick's house, Nana and Paw Paw's house, Grandpa's house, Grandma & Grandpa Yeamans' house, Grandma & Grandpa Flores' house and Nanaw and Pa D's house! PHEW! If I've said it once, I've said it a million times...this is one lucky little guy! :)

Here are some pics from the weekend...and yes, these are just a few! :)

Next Time Won't You Sing With Me!?

While waiting for our friends, Kristen and Connor, to arrive at one of our favorite lunch spots {Chick fil a} I asked Clay if he would sing the ABC song for me to pass the time. I've been trying so hard to capture his cute rendition on film and finally got it! :)

Note: Turn up your volume to hear the song clearly...I forgot to turn my air conditioner down and you can hear it blowing full blast! Gotta stay cool in this sweltering 103 degree heat!

I just love how he holds the sssssss sound! :)

What a Man, What a Man, What a Man, What a Mighty Good MAN!

"Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a DAD!" --Author Unknown

Daddy would NOT approve of me gettin' all sappy on Clay's blog about Father's Day, so I'm gonna respect his wishes...kind of! :) I do want to say that a bond between a Daddy and his son is something indescribable and I am in AWE everyday of what I see between these two! Gotta say it's something pretty special!

Daddy, thank you for being the man, husband, and father that you are...the one that Clay is so PROUD to look up to! :) We LOVE You!

Daddy has an uncanny way of making anything FUN...like a football and a recorder!! :)

Letter of the Week...I!

With the scorching HOT days, Clay and I are finding creative ways to keep cool! So...what better way to introduce the letter I than by using ice cream {and a few other of our favorite "treats"}!

materials...I asked Clay what his favorite ice cream flavor was and he told me {without hesitation!} "straw-ber-ry!" Therefore, we chose our "scoop" to be pink for strawberry! For the topping we chose the only other sweet he enjoys...M&M's!!

coloring the bottom half of the I. Can you tell I just taught him how to hold the paper down with his other hand while he colors to keep the paper from moving?! Good listener! :)

Securing the "scoop" to the top half.

Gluing down the "toppings!"

pressing down and counting..."one, two, tree, four!"

repeating the process....

our finished product...I am amazed this many M&M's made it...I'm pretty sure I saw a few sneak into the mouth!!! :)

And what better way to solidify our learning than to share a little....

just his size!!

And, did I mention we did this activity BEFORE 11am! Yeah, I know...Mom of the Year moment! But honestly, is there every a wrong time for ice cream?!? We think not! ;)

We Salute You, John Blake!

Another package shipping off to Afghanistan!

Clay was very excited to help put this care package together for my cousin, John Blake. He really understood that we were sending him a package full of his "favorite things." When I asked Clay what he would like to send to John Blake he told me "tractor fruit snacks!" {one of Clay's favorites!} Then he promptly told me, "be right back!" I heard him rummaging around in the pantry and return with these...

tractor fruit snacks! I really thought this was so sweet of Clay because he was really grasping the concept of sending "favorite things!" Love him!

checking out the goodies!

some of the "favorite things." notice the tractor fruit snacks safely on top! :)
This box is packed FULL!!

And last, but not least....

A salute to our favorite soldier!!!!

We love you, John Blake! Enjoy your care package and mostly those tractor fruit snacks! ;)

Little Gym Preview Day

Another semester of Little Gym has come and gone and at the end of each semester is Preview Day...a day for the adorable kiddos to show off the skills they have learned and are learning in class. This was an extra special Preview Day because....

Daddy surprised us! And, boy was Clay excited to show off for his {other} #1 fan! :)

Here's our big guy in action:
monkey kicks with mama
playing with the parachute
walking around to "wheels on the bus"
hanging from the bar...his favorite!
little monkey...just a swinging away!
walking on the balance beam
making his way across the bear crawl
waiting patiently for the balls...have to count to 10 first!
bouncy, bouncy, bouncy
ribbon ceremony...one proud mama!!!
and one proud Daddy!!!
singing our goodbye song...this is the face of someone who loves his Little Gym!

Here's to another amazing semester! Thank you, Miss Sara! Can't wait to start again for the summer.
