Bahamas Bound!

On Wednesday, Mama & Daddy are Bahamas Bound!

We will be...
lounging here!
and relaxing here!

Clay will be in wonderful hands...Mick and Coach will be here until Friday, then Nana and Paw Paw are coming until we return on Sunday. {Mama must admit, she is having some anxiety about leaving, but mostly because she will be missing her boy soooo much!} I like my 24/7 schedule! :) But, as hard as it is to leave our little man, Mama & Daddy are excited for some couple time. If you know us, you know we don't ever do anything with out our boy!

Real pics posted when we return! :)

4.13.09

on this day, 2 years ago, our precious Clay was born! fast forward to today and Clay had his 2 year doctor appointment. {way to go Mama...schedule shots on his birthday...what was I thinking when I made this appointment 6 months ago?!?!} Grandpa came up for the visit and we made sure to make it a fun filled morning to make up for Mama's big goof!

Clay started his day with his favorite breakfast...pancakes! Shaped as the #2!!!

Clay's doctor is very impressed with his growth and development. Here are the 2 year stats!

height: 36 inches (75-90% percentile)

weight: 28 lbs. 11 oz (50-75% percentile)

head circumference: 50 cm (90% percentile)

She was very pleased with his vocabulary and the fact that he forms simple 3-4 word sentences! Big talker...must get that from Mama! :) Thankfully, he only had to have one shot and the sugar free suckers {along with "momo" and "baba"} helped tremendously! Next, we were off to lunch at Galaxy Cafe...yummy! I guess we were all too hungry because I have no pics of lunch, but afterwards Grandpa treated Clay to some....

"I Keem!"

digging into his "staw.ber.ry!" {yes, Clay says it as three distinct syllables...so cute!}

stealing a little of Grandpa's too!

Then, after dinner {Clay's favorite...chicken, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, and dinner rolls!}, we celebrated one more time with cupcakes!

waiting patiently....

Clay is singing along with Mama and Daddy!

doesn't like to get his hands dirty...

this face screams "yummy!"

Easter Eve

Here are a few pics of Clay's first time dying Easter eggs. He had the most fun just moving the eggs from one container of dye to the next. I was impressed with how careful he was and how he managed to keep the egg on his spoon! None were left in the containers long enough to dye dark, but oh well, we had fun watching him do his thing! Needless to say, our eggs were very multi-colored!

just gettin' started!
good balance...
moving from one to the other...and other...
Clay would say, "No geen. Now blue!" He knew which colors he wanted!

please excuse this AWFUL pic of Mama...this was after a day of scrubbing and cleaning for Clay's party!

Ta da! Finished products!

Keep checking back...MANY posts to come...Clay's party and birthday pics!

My oh my...how time does fly {sigh}!

Okay, so I think I am WAY more sentimental for birthday #2 than I was for #1! Not sure why...but Mama is having a tough time accepting the fact that my "baby" is growing up! Don't get me wrong, I am LOVING everything about this age...the independence, the personality {yes, even the tantrums!}, the talk, the wits, the curiosity...my list could go on and on! It seems that with every new stage, I tell Doug, "Oh, this is my favorite age!" I'm pretty sure I'm going to continue to feel this way right up until the teenage years! :) But right now, I can't help but reminisce!

4.13.07 seems like it was just yesterday...

and this...

and this...

I can't, can't can't wait for Clay's party tomorrow! We always look forward to being surrounded by all of our family and friends. And, yes, I will remember to wear my waterproof mascara! :)

Di-do-saurs!

Let me tell you this boy is ALL boy! He is a total outdoors kind of guy....the dirtier, sweatier, messier, the better!!! He loves digging in the flower beds (with Mama's good spoons nonetheless!), tormenting the poor rolly-pollies (or "pollies" as he calls them)--just can't get enough of watching them roll into their little balls trying desperately to escape his pokes, and catching "hoppers" in the grass with Daddy! He loves, loves, loves his books about animals, bugs and other creepy crawlies, reptiles, and dinosaurs or "di-do-saurs" as Clay says!

One really windy day, in effort to keep us from blowing over outside, I thought of an indoor activity Clay might enjoy...creating his very own di-do-saur!

materials...yes, that is a dinosaur...just wait and see!

this is a two step activity...first, we painted the dinosaur

then, we painted the plates for the dinosaur's back

clay decided it worked best just to roll the clothespins around in the paint...messier...better!

gluing on the google eye...two words clay has added to his vocab! :)

clay's finished di-do-saur!

we wrapped up our activity by reading these two books!

This kept his attention...for a little while...but, as soon as the wind died down...well, you know where to find us! :)

Bon Appetit?!?

I'm guessing he was NOT that interested in eating his lunch today...

If you look closely, you will notice most of his lunch is floating in his water bottle!

When I asked him what happened, he gave me this face and told me, "Mama, fish wimming (swimming)! Yes, indeed they are!

Nana and Paw Paw (& Toto, too!)

This past weekend Nana, Paw Paw & Toto came for a visit and boy were we excited to see them! Clay carried around his picture of Toto for a week telling me, "Toto coming!" And I would ask, "Who is Toto coming with?" Clay would answer, "Nana and Paw Paw." He also added as he pointed to the picture, "Toto eyes, nose, ears." "Toto, big ears!" Pretty observant! :)

He is bursting with excitement!!!

Clay loves Toto! Think this boy (& Daddy!) are ready for a puppy!?!

Showing off his scooter skills! Okay, so I know what you are thinking...he's too young for this big boy toy?!? Yes, we agree. But, when Mama told Daddy that Clay loved playing with the big boy scooters at the park and he was so upset when we had to leave them behind, Daddy wasn't gonna stand for it! One day, Daddy came home with Clay's very own scooter...just like the big boys. :)

Clay in action!

A little backyard rough housing with Paw Paw!

Clay's going down!

Paw Paw's worn out!

Clay would put on Paw Paw's sunglasses and say, "cool dude!" Now he says this phrase anytime he sees sunglasses...too cute! (I'm trying to capture it on video!)

Chasing after bubbles with Nana!

Almost got it!

Aunt Katie we missed you, but will see you soon for Clay's birthday!

Thank you Nana and Paw Paw for a wonderful weekend!
