It's Official...Spring is HERE!

And to celebrate it's arrival, Clay and I headed over to the Wildflower Center with cameras {yes, plural...Clay brought his very own camera along, too!} in hand!

This certainly caught Clay's attention..."Mama! Look! Huuuuuge ants like from the movie Bug's Life."

Gotta love the turtles!

We were so close to these you could almost touch them! Clay said,
"Mama, look at those silly turtles getting a sun tan!"

Hook 'Em! This one is for you, Daddy!

Here we are at the Children's House digging in the pots. To say Clay loved digging and finding these insects was an understatement! We played here the majority of the time. Every time he'd find a new insect he'd say {in his very matter-of-fact tone} "Mama, you know what you call this insect? You call it a ____." And then he would go on to tell me a little fact he knew. My favorite was,
"Mama, see this insect. You call it a scorpion. It has a stinger but it's really nice."

Checking out his latest find.

Okay, Mama I hopped up here so you could get this "really cute picture" now hurry up so I can go back to digging please! :)

Taking a break with his bugs!

Once I convinced...errr more like bribed Clay away from the beloved insects and digging with a special treat after lunch...this is more of what we captured on our outing.

Can you spot the butterfly???

My favorite pic of the day! Clay loved having his own camera and took some really great pics! His favorites to capture were the small ponds with turtles and fish, bluebonnets, butterflies, and cactus.

The sculptures were great! If you look closely you'll notice this spider's legs are made from old gas pumps. Clever!

Clay went around counting the legs.
"Mama, you know how many legs a spider has? I see eight!"

To top off our perfect day at the Wildflower Center, after lunch as promised....

Clay's special treat! :)
Looking forward to many more BEAUTIFUL days with my little man! {and all the while thinking of the day we will be sharing them too with his little sister!} :)
